Freda Friesen

Posted Dec 15, 2025 | 10:18 AM

May 6, 1930 – December 4, 2025

Freda passed away on December 4, 2025, at Shuswap Lake General Hospital. She was born on May 6, 1930, in Bassano, Alberta, to John and Maria (Loewen) Friesen.

Her journey took her westward in 1941 to Greendale, B.C. From there, in 1943, she relocated to Arnold, B.C., where she met the man of her dreams, Henry Friesen, in 1945. They were married in 1950. They bought a small farm on Sumas Prairie and raised their family. They later spent a year north to 100 Mile House before settling in Sardis, where Henry passed away in 2013. Freda continued to reside there until 2024, when she moved to Blind Bay to live with Darlene and Stan, where she went to be with the Lord.

Freda is survived by her children Garry (Robin), Elaine (Murray), Darlene (Stan), and Bonnie (Michael); grandchildren Melissa, Megan, Denise, Bryce (Crystal), Cherie (Jason), Latisha (Kenny), Crystal (Matt), Cody, Curtis (Tracey), and Kyle (Savannah); 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and her sisters Susie and Elsie.

Freda was predeceased by her loving husband, Henry, and by her siblings Mary, Elizabeth, Hilda, Alfred, Erika, and Adina.

She will be remembered for her love, kindness, generosity, strong work ethic, vibrant faith in God, her life as a dedicated prayer warrior, her gentle yet spicy spirit, and her deep passion for family.

You may offer a message of condolence at Schoening Funeral Service for the Friesen family.
