LYTTON, B.C. — Police say a crash between two B-train semi trucks near Lytton Monday (Nov. 24) killed a Surrey man.

The collision took place just before 9:00 a.m. Monday on the Tank Hill Bridge along the Trans Canada Highway and closed the highway for most of the day.

According to BC Highway Patrol (BCHP), a blue northbound Kenworth towing two empty flat-deck trailers collided with a green southbound Volvo towing two enclosed trailers.

The driver of the Volvo, a 49-year-old man from Surrey, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Kenworth, a 38-year-old man from Chilliwack, was taken to hospital suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

BCHP officers are looking for relevant dashcam footage as they investigate the cause of the collision.

“Some key witnesses have already spoken to police and investigators are looking into the driving behaviour of both trucks leading up to the crash,” said Cpl. Michael McLaughlin in the release. “If you have dash camera video, or if you saw either of these trucks on the road, police need to speak to you.”

Anyone with further information or footage is asked to call BCHP Kamloops at (250) 828-3111 and refer to file number (2100) 2025-3960.
