Logan Lake installs new, permanent crosswalk honouring veterans

LOGAN LAKE, B.C. — Ahead of Remembrance Day this year, the District of Logan Lake has put the finishing touches on a new crosswalk honouring veterans.

Mayor Robin Smith says the idea came from Karen Harvey, a local resident who wanted to see a veterans crosswalk installed, and the district decided to front the $3,500 to make it happen. Smith says the amount of positive commentary on the colourful addition has exceeded the district’s expectations.

“It’s always interesting to me to see the feedback on the relatively small things,” says Smith. “You know, it tells you that really it is the small things that matter. It’s not always the big ticket, multi-million dollar or hundred-thousand-dollar projects, it’s the little things that really matter.”

The crosswalk was painted in front of the district office in time for this year’s Remembrance Day ceremony, but it will be maintained as a permanent fixture.
