City of Merritt promotes Rick Green to vacant Chief Administrative Officer role

MERRITT — The City of Merritt has announced the appointment of Rick Green as its new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

Green, who had been serving as acting CAO following the departure of Cynthia White, officially takes over as of today, Oct. 30. A City of Merritt employee since Aug. 2022, Green was previously the Director of Public Works, Engineering, and Development Services.

“I am honoured by the confidence that Council has placed in me,” Green said, in a statement. “I look forward to fostering an open and collaborative environment to advance the City’s strategic goals. By empowering our staff and celebrating their achievements, we can continue building a strong and resilient Merritt.”

According to the City of Merritt, Green has contributed his extensive expertise in infrastructure development, operations management, and municipal leadership during his time in the Nicola Valley.

They also note his nearly four decade long career includes accomplishments in project management, financial stewardship, and advancing Indigenous cultural safety within the public sector.
