WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — The BC Wildfire Service is carrying out another prescribed burn in partnership with Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN).

An eight-hectare burn near Brunson Lake, nearly seven kilometres south of WLFN, is expected to begin as early as Tuesday (Oct. 21). The wildfire service says the burn may continue periodically until Oct. 31.

In a news release issued Friday (Oct. 17), the wildfire service says smoke will be visible to surrounding areas and drivers travelling along Highway 20, Chimney Lake Road and Dog Creek Road. Firefighters will remain on site to monitor conditions into the night.

The wildfire service says the goals of the prescribed burn near Brunson Lake are to reduce wildfire risk near Williams Lake and restore grassland and forest health.
