VICTORIA — The TRU WolfPack women’s soccer team fought back after an early deficit Friday (Oct. 3) night, but they couldn’t complete the comeback on Vancouver Island.

The 5-6 WolfPack fell 3-1 to the 4-2-3 Victoria Vikes, a result that has both teams tied for third in the Pacific Division with 15 points. TRU, however, has played 11 games to Victoria’s nine.

Abby McDonald scored a pair to put Victoria up 2-0 in the first half, before third-year forward Kat Stewart pulled one back for the WolfPack. That goal was assisted by Esi Lufo, who tallied her team-high tenth point of the season.

While the WolfPack tried their best to equalize in the second half, it wasn’t to be as McDonald completed her hat trick in the 66th minute.

TRU goalkeeper Floor Ursem made five saves on the night, including a penalty from Ruby Nicholas in the 70th minute.

The WolfPack will play the UBC Thunderbirds in Vancouver in their final road game of the 2025 regular season and its scheduled to kick off at 6:00 p.m. TRU will finish its regular season with a pair of home games against the UBC Okanagan Heat on Oct. 18 and 19 at Hillside Stadium.

The 1-10-1 WolfPack men are off this weekend, though they’ll host the Heat in a pair of games next weekend (Oct. 10 and 11) at Hillside Stadium.
