Kamloops firefighters battle small fire near rail tracks in Valleyview

KAMLOOPS — Traffic on the Trans-Canada Highway in Valleyview was affected for a short while Saturday (Oct. 4) morning as Kamloops firefighters battled a small grassfire near the railway tracks.
Firefighters were called to the area of Highway 1 and Highland Road just after 9:00 a.m. They made quick work of the fire and cleared the scene about 30 minutes later.
Train traffic was briefly halted as firefighters has to pull hoses across the tracks as the fire was burning between the rail line and the South Thompson River. Sources to CFJC Today also said the fire was not burning on CPKC Rail property.
There is no word on the cause of the fire.
