June 1, 1948 — January 22, 2024
Robert Anthony Manion Sr. aka Bob Manion was born June 1, 1948 in Vancouver BC. He spent most of his childhood years in Merritt BC and he was the older brother to Brian and Susan Chromko. Bob eventually moved to Kamloops in the mid-1970’s where he first worked as a Heavy Duty Mechanic for Mack Trucks then Cominco/Highland Valley Copper. He worked there for decades and made a lot of great friends there. He retired in 2013 and returned for a brief time.
Bob was a fisherman, hunter and all of kids can attest to him being an attentive dad. Whenever we pulled into his driveway, he was outside popping hoods inspecting engines, tires and sharing his words of wisdom. He won his battle with cancer in 2012. Sadly his youngest daughter, Lacey was murdered in 2013, this shaved years off his life expectancy.
Unfortunately he lost his battle with COPD on January 22, 2024. Bob’s brother, Brian Chromko, also passed away in July 2024. Then Bob’s wife, Cindy also passed away in February 2025.
Dad is survived by his children: Carolina Collins, Denise Manion (Dean Holtom), Diane Lukasser, Robert Manion Jr; his stepchildren Michael and Chantelle Platt; his grandchildren: Jesse (Kendra), Jay, Danton, Nryan, Adrian, Deanuh, Tony, Natasha, Jericho, Chelsey, Landen, Diana, Aaliyah; his step grandchildren: Max and Chase; his great grandchildren: Miischa, Xael, Jonna, Wade, Robbie and Tate; his sister Sue Chromko; his nephews: Chuck, Dustin, Bradley and Herb. He was predeceased by his mother, Pearl Chromko and his stepfather, Nick Chromko.
A Celebration of Life was held in Kamloops on October 5, 2024. We thank everyone who attended and who shared their memories of dad. We love and miss him dearly.
