Sep 14, 2025 | 1:56 PM

UPDATE (3:00 p.m.): DriveBC says the stretch of Highway 1 will now be closed from 11:00 p.m. Monday to 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, rather than the originally planned overnight closure Sunday.

EARLIER: LYTTON, B.C. — A stretch of the Trans Canada between Lytton and Spences Bridge will be closed again overnight.

B.C.’s Ministry of Transportation and Transit says Highway 1 at Tank Hill, nearly 14 kilometres east of Lytton, will be closed from 11:00 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 14) to 7:00 a.m. Monday (Sept. 15). The province says the closure is necessary to complete final paving work on the roadway.

Checkpoints with traffic-management personnel will be set up at the intersections of Highway 1 and Highway 12, as well as Highway 1 and Highway 8. Local traffic will be able to access the Gladwin area, north of Lytton, and Nicomen River Road, south of Spences Bridge. All other traffic will be detoured via Highway 12 and Highway 5.
