KAMLOOPS — First responders in Kamloops will be wielding sticks at Norbrock Stadium on McArthur Island this evening (Sept. 6), and its all for a good cause.

The Fourth Annual Special Olympics Charity Softball Game, which is set to get underway at 4:00 p.m., will once again feature a team of Kamloops First Responders and the Kamloops Special Olympics Softball Team.

“Our office looks forward to this event every year,” said Kamloops RCMP Constable Phil Whiles, one of the event organizers. “It is great to participate in such a fun and positive event.”

The Kamloops First Responders hope to end their three-year losing streak, thought they admit it won’t be easy. They note the Kamloops Special Olympics Softball Team brought back a silver medal from this summer’s Special Olympics BC Games in Prince George.
