35TH ANNUAL PARKINSON SUPERWALK

Parkinson Superwalk set for Riverside Park Saturday

KAMLOOPS — This Saturday (Sept. 6), dozens of Kamloops residents will make their way to Riverside Park for the 35th annual Parkinson Superwalk.

The annual event is the largest fundraiser for the Parkinson Society of BC, which offers programs and services for people affected by Parkinson’s disease. Parkinson’s is a degenerative neurological disorder and more than 17,500 people in B.C. are currently living with the disease.

In Kamloops, previous walks have generated $30,000 to $40,000 in donations per event, and this year, the local walk is hoping for a strong turnout.

In-person registration for the event opens at 10:00 a.m. and people can sign up online ahead of time. Brief speeches and a warmup will begin at 10:30 a.m. from the bandshell area at Riverside Park. The walk itself is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
