KAMLOOPS — A busy summer has the Kamloops building sector on pace to surpass its production in 2024.

New numbers released by the City of Kamloops Building Inspection Division show nearly $69.8 million in activity was recorded over 96 permits in August 2025, more than double the value of $28.5 million recorded over 88 permits during the same month in 2024.

Notable categories include three multi-family – three or more units – permits bringing in $48 million, eight multi-family duplex permits worth $4 million and 12 commercial permits worth $12.3 million.

Year-to-date, the city has doled out 702 permits totalling nearly $282 million as of August 2025, up from $249.6 million over 641 permits as of the same point in 2024. It’s the first time since February that year-to-date construction value has been greater than the same month in 2024.
