Early Saturday fire in Upper Sahali Park under control

KAMLOOPS — Firefighters in Kamloops appear to have made quick work of an early Saturday (Aug. 30) morning fire in an Upper Sahali park.

Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) crews were called to Gordonhorn Park around 6:00 a.m. this morning. While details about the response efforts are not clear at this time, the BC Wildfire Service also dispatched some of its members to this fire.

“Our personnel were there in a supporting capacity,” Taylor Stewart Shantz, a BC Wildfire Service Information Officer, told CFJC Today just after 9:00 a.m. “I can’t give you a whole lot of information on the response because the lead agency was KFR.”

“But it sounds like they were mopping up.”

The fire is listed as under control on the BC Wildfire Service’s dashboard, though as of publishing, a cause had not been determined.
