LYTTON, B.C. — Police are investigating after two people were killed in a fiery crash on the Trans Canada Highway between Cache Creek and Spences Bridge last week.

Lytton RCMP say they received multiple calls of a two-vehicle collision on the stretch of Highway 1 at around 4:56 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 14).

In a news release issued Tuesday (Aug. 19) morning, RCMP say a southbound SUV is believed to have crossed the center line and collided with a northbound pickup truck. Both vehicles were then engulfed in flames.

Police say a man in the pickup and a woman in the SUV died. The drivers of the pickup and SUV, as well as two passengers in the SUV, all suffered various injuries and were treated on scene before being sent to hospital. Police add that two dogs were also injured and received medical treatment.
