MERRITT — The Merritt branch of a highway and bridge maintenance company is offering a cash reward for information that leads to the arrest of a pair of suspects who allegedly broke in and stole “multiple tires.”

In a post on Facebook, Emcon Services said two people broke into its Merritt location on McFarlane Way Thursday (Aug. 14) evening, though it did not specify when. While the company also did not say how many tires were stolen, it shared pictures of a work truck missing all four of its tires.

“This is not only theft from our company – it’s theft from the community we serve,” Emcon said.

Included in the company’s social media post was a pair of grainy surveillance photos that appeared to show a possible suspect. Merritt RCMP confirmed to CFJC Today that police are “actively following up on leads.”

Police also say they’ll have more to say once they have more details.

“We are offering a cash reward for information that leads directly to the arrest and conviction of the people responsible,” Emcon added. “Let’s work together to hold these criminals accountable.”

The company is asking people who have information, photos, video, or tips related to this theft to contact the Merritt RCMP Detachment at 250-378-4262 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
