Air Canada flight attendants’ strike notice won’t impact service from Kamloops to Vancouver: YKA

KAMLOOPS — Travelers flying between Kamloops and Vancouver will not have to worry about flight cancelations due to the Air Canada flight attendants labour dispute.

The Air Canada component of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, the union representing around 10,000 Air Canada flight attendants, issued 72-hour strike notice and could walk off the job at 9:58 p.m. PT on Friday (Aug. 15) if a deal isn’t reached to avoid a work stoppage.

Speaking to CFJC Today, Kamloops Airport (YKA) managing director Jim Moroz said the strike notice will not affect the airport’s direct service to Vancouver.

“The Air Canada brand that flies out of Kamloops to Vancouver is Air Canada Express, operated by Jazz Aviation, who are not involved in this labour dispute. This is between Air Canada mainline and Rouge,” Moroz said. “However, you may have a connecting flight on one of their other brands… we encourage travelers to monitor their flight status through the Air Canada website and their app.”
