Emerald Lake wildfire being held at 245 hectares

100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — A notable wildfire west of 100 Mile House is classified as being held.

In an update Tuesday (Aug. 12), the BC Wildfire Service says the Emerald Lake wildfire burning nearly 39 kilometres south of Williams Lake is projected to remain within its current perimeter of 245.7 hectares, based on fuel and weather conditions and resource availability.

No evacuation orders or alerts are in place due to the fire. It’s suspected to be caused by lighting.

The wildfire service says notes a cold front is forecast to pass through the Emerald Lake wildfire area, which will provide scattered thundershowers.

As of Tuesday, 90 firefighters remain on site at the Emerald Lake wildfire, as do helicopters and heavy equipment and water tankers.
