Ethan Katzberg settles for silver at Prefontaine Classic in Oregon
EUGENE, OR — Ethan Katzberg had to settle for a silver medal at the Diamond League’s Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon Saturday (July 5).
Katzberg, who had won all five events he had competed in so far this year, threw 81.73 metres and was nearly 1.5 metres short of Rudy Winkler’s gold medal effort. Winker’s throw of 83.16 metres set a new American record as well as a new Diamond League record.
It also surpassed Katzberg’s 82.73 metre effort at the Kip Keino Classic in Kenya in May as the longest throw of the year so far.
