January 8, 1932 – May 30, 2025
With deep sadness and abiding love, we announce the peaceful passing of Gurnake Singh Pannu on May 30, 2025,
Born in India on January 8, 1932, Gurnake spent his early years in what is now Pakistan before settling in Raikot, Punjab. In 1960, he immigrated to Canada in search of greater opportunity for his family. A man of extraordinary work ethic and gentle strength, he built a life rooted in love, perseverance, and devotion to those around him. Gurnake made friends everywhere he went and always reached out to help others.
Gurnake had a lifelong passion for horses and found great joy in finally building a dream home with acreage for his seven horses. For many years, he enjoyed riding, training and loving his horses. Gurnake’s other great passion was gardening—especially nurturing flowers. The beautiful gardens he created in each of his homes have been indicative of his energy, knowledge and vision.
Gurnake was known for his quiet wisdom, warm presence, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. His life was a testament to resilience, grace, and enduring family values.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Ranjit, and their children: Sarbjeet (Baldev), Parm (Murray), Gurdeep (Wayne), Ron (Swarnjit), and Bubbly (Bruce). Gurnake was the proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense pride and joy to his life.
He was predeceased by cherished members of his extended family and will be reunited with them in peace.
A funeral service to honor Gurnake’s life will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. in the Schoening Funeral Chapel.
“A life well lived is a legacy of love.”
