Cameron MacDonald

Posted May 20, 2025 | 9:54 AM

December 15, 1928 – May 3, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Cameron MacDonald on May 3, 2025, at the age of 96.

Born in Ceylon, Saskatchewan, and raised in Cranbrook, B.C., Cameron built a life grounded in love, family, and good humour. After marrying his beloved Georgette, the two lived in Cranbrook, Calgary and Blairmore before settling in Kamloops, where they raised their family and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and adventure.

Cameron was predeceased by his parents, Duncan and Helen (Hunter) MacDonald, and his sisters: Margaret McLean (David), Isabella Kram (Charlie), Mary Kneiss (Harold), and Jean Huxtable (Jack). He is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by Georgette, his devoted wife of 70 years; his children, Christine (Rod) Whettell and David (Sandra) MacDonald; his grandchildren, Scott (Odessa) Whettell, Erin Whettell, Kelsey Whettell, Taylor (Nolan) Wallace, and Robyn MacDonald (Ethan Panasiuk); and his great-granddaughter, Juniper Whettell. He is also survived by his brother, Duncan MacDonald (Patricia), and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Cameron made his career as a transport truck driver with Arrow Transportation and Trimac Transportation, proudly contributing to the industry with professionalism and dedication. But it was his sense of fun that truly defined him. Cameron was a born prankster and a legendary teaser — never missing an opportunity to play a trick, deliver a one-liner, or catch someone off guard with a perfectly timed joke. Cameron’s playful spirit brought laughter into every room he entered.

A longtime member of the Kamloops Curling Club, a loyal Kamloops Blazers season ticket holder, and an avid golfer, Cameron enjoyed sports and the camaraderie that came with them. But his favorite times were those spent with family — telling stories, sharing laughs, and making memories.

Known for his playful spirit and quick wit, Cameron was a lifelong prankster who loved to laugh and never missed an opportunity to share a good joke. His sense of humor and fun-loving nature brought joy to everyone around him.

He and Georgette shared a love of travel—spending countless joyful hours RVing throughout British Columbia, across Canada, and into the United States. Their adventures also took them to Jamaica, Mexico, Cuba, Portugal, Hawaii, and Alaska, always making lasting memories with those they loved.

He found joy in simple pleasures — time at Caravans West, days on the hobby farm full of animals and mishaps and sitting with a good coffee and a better story.

He will be remembered for his quiet strength, deep devotion to family, his mischief and mirth, and the love and laughter he brought to those lucky enough to know him.

A celebration of life will be held on June 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Hal Rogers Centre 2025 Summit Dr., Kamloops, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice or to the BC Heart & Stroke Foundation in Cameron’s memory.

You may offer a message of condolence at Cypress Funeral and Cremation Services for the MacDonald family.
