Washout impacts traffic on Highway 1 east of Chase

UPDATE (11:00 a.m.): The washout is cleared.

UPDATE (8:20 a.m.): Traffic is flowing again through a stretch of the Trans Canada Highway east of the Village of Chase.

DriveBC says a reduced speed limit is now in effect and drivers are asked to proceed with caution.

Another update is due at 11:00 a.m.

EARLIER: CHASE, B.C. — A stretch of the Trans Canada Highway east of the Village of Chase is closed in both directions Tuesday (April 8) morning.

DriveBC first reported of a washout between Squilax Turtle Valley Road and Little River Road, around nine to 12 kilometres east of Chase, at around 3:00 a.m. Tuesday.

An alternate route is available via Highway 97 to 97 A and B.

Another update is due at 8:00 a.m. and residents can monitor the situation here.
