KAMLOOPS — Environment Canada has lifted weather warnings on both the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt and the Trans-Canada Highway between Eagle and Rogers Pass.

Both sections of highways saw significant snow Sunday (March 9), as the weather agency was calling for as much as 20 centimetres on the Coquihalla and 30 centimetres on the Trans Canada.

The Trans-Canada has reopened east of Revelstoke after a 14-hour closure for avalanche control work that began at 3:00 p.m Sunday. While the highway was expected to open at 11:00 p.m. last night, the closure was extended by another six hours.

There is also snow on some other area highways – most notably on Highway 24 in the Interlakes area and Highway 97 between Clinton and Williams Lake.

Drivers are being urged to take it easy following the snow – and rain – that fell across parts of the Interior Sunday.
