KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Storm are moving on in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) playoffs.

The Storm swept the Quesnel River Rush on the road Tuesday (March 4) with a 3-2 overtime win in Game Four.

The Storm got out to a 2-0 lead after the first period, but the River Rush pushed back with their season on the line. Quesnel scored two goals in the second period to tie the game 2-2. The River Rush also outshot the Storm 36-15 over the final two periods.

However, Kamloops local Luca D’Amore played the hero in overtime, scoring the winner 14:24 into the extra frame. Storm goaltender Brenner Fyfe made 52 saves for the win.

The Storm awaits the winner of the best-of-seven series between the 100 Mile House Wranglers and Williams Lake Mustangs in the Doug Birks Division Finals. The division-winning Wranglers tied their series against the underdog Mustangs 2-2 after a 1-0 overtime win in Game Four.

Game Five between the Wranglers and Mustangs is scheduled for Friday in 100 Mile House while Game Six is scheduled for Saturday in Williams Lake. If needed, Game Seven would take place Monday in 100 Mile House.

The Storm would have home ice advantage against the Mustangs but would head to 100 Mile House for Game One against the division-winning Wranglers.

Elsewhere in the KIJHL playoffs, the Merritt Centennials staved off elimination with a 3-2 overtime win over the Revelstoke Grizzlies at Nicola Valley Arena Tuesday. Game Five of the Bill Olhausen Division Semi-Finals is scheduled for Friday in Revelstoke with the Cents trailing the best-of-seven series 3-1.
