March 22, 1952 – January 17, 2025 

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Tanya Fontaine on January 17, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on March 22, 1952, Tanya lived a life full of accomplishment, warmth, and devotion to those she loved. 

Tanya was predeceased by her husband, Marc Fontaine, with whom she shared a deep and enduring love of 46 years. She is survived by her brother, Brent (Judy) Deverill, sister-in-law, Lise (Bill) West; cousin, Wynn (Ron) Feilde, and beloved nieces, Jessie (Rob) Hayek and Kelly (Jean Eduard) Miclot, and so many other family and friends! Her recent Interior Health Home Support coworkers, including Tasha Forseth, and others, will also miss her immensely. 

She was born in Winnipeg, schooled in Edmonton, finally settling in the Kamloops area. 

Tanya excelled in all she did, earning respect and admiration for her tenacity, sass, intelligence, and unyielding drive and passion in both her personal and professional life. The patience, respect, and compassion that Tanya had for her clients and teammates in her most recent career in health care was a testament to that. Prior to that, Tanya was an owner and co-owner of many businesses over the years and was able to count a large number of friends among her employees and colleagues. 

Tanya was also known for her vibrant spirit and her love for animals, particularly dogs; Whippets and Havanese. She was a true friend to all creatures, sharing her life with countless beloved canine companions and leaving behind her cherished dogs, Chico and Peso, who are now in the care of family. 

Tanya enjoyed an adventurous life, spending a short time as a gogo dancer for Roy Orbison! Tanya and Marc spent many years enjoying the water in Mexico and at the Shuswap, and her family and friends will cherish the memories made during those times. 

Tanya will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and the many who were fortunate to know her. 

We love you Tanya – our tiny but mighty Tanya! 

A memorial will be held later for both Tanya and Marc. Details to be announced at a future date.
