Firefighters take down wind-fueled grass fire near Kamloops
KAMLOOPS — Firefighters took down a large grass fire just outside of Kamloops along the Coquihalla Highway the Friday night (Nov. 6) despite the wind fueling the rapidly spreading flames.
Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) Platoon Chief Jim Gorman said the call came in shortly after 9 p.m., and about a dozen firefighters were dispatched.
The fire started the same night as a strong wind storm ripped through much of B.C., which fanned the flames into the nearby grass.
“There was a car fire up at a rest area that spread to the surrounding grass,” said Gorman.
