WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — Contractors with the City of Williams Lake have begun pile burning in the Airport Road area, and will continue until the end of December.

The city said this a continuation of previously completed fuel management activities aimed at reducing wildfire risk in areas surrounding the community.

The project involves crews with Borland Creek Logging burning piles of woody debris that built up from previous wildfire risk reduction treatments.

“As crews complete the work, smoke and flames may be visible from the hillside near Airport Road,” said the city.
