MERRITT — Several search and rescue teams are continuing to scour the Glimpse Lake area near Merritt as the search for a missing hunter is into its fourth day.

Claus Farhmann, who also goes by Myles, was out hunting and – according to a post on social media – he has not been heard from since Saturday (Oct. 31). It also noted that Farhmann was due back on Sunday, and that he is known to hunt in the Douglas Lake Road area between Merritt and Falkland.

Several search and rescue volunteers – including a team from Kamloops Search and Rescue (KSAR) – are now involved in this search in the Douglas Lake Ranch area.

“Today marks Operational Period Four in the search for the missing hunter in the Glimpse Lake area,” KSAR said in a statement.

“If you are hunting or travelling in the Glimpse Lake area, please be aware of increased Search and Rescue activity. Numerous SAR members and vehicles will be in the area. Please give teams space and stay clear of active search areas.”

Farhmann was last pinged in the Merritt area, and his older model van was located near Glimpse Lake, but there has been no sign of the missing man.

“[Central Okanagan Search and Rescue] members, including our tracking, ground and canine teams, searched the Glimpse Lake area but unfortunately did not locate the missing individual,” a Wednesday (Nov. 4) evening statement from COSAR said.

People with information are asked to contact Vernon RCMP and reference file 2026-19134.
