Without injured Nichols, Dunstone off to perfect start at Grand Slam
MEDICINE HAT, ALTA. — Kamloops skip Matt Dunstone and his Winnipeg-based rink are off to a perfect start at the P&H Masters Grand Slam of Curling this week in Medicine Hat, Alta.
The world’s third-ranked men’s team moved to 2-0 despite playing without its regular second, Mark Nichols, who is suffering from an upper-body injury.
“I don’t want to put a timeline on when he’s going to be back,” Dunstone said. “Obviously, we’re hoping as soon as possible. The next Slam (scheduled to run from Nov. 17 to Nov. 22 in Sydney, N.S.) would be awesome if that’s possible, but we want to make sure he’s 100 per cent ready to go. He’s been seeing all the right people to make sure that gives us the best chance to have him back as soon as possible.”
