Kamloops city council to be sworn into office Monday night

KAMLOOPS — The newly elected Kamloops city council will officially be sworn into office this evening (Nov. 2) by the honourable Judge Christopher Balison at the inaugural meeting held at 7:00 p.m.

The new council features four returning members, including mayor-elect Mike O’Reilly, and incumbent councilors Katie Neustaeter, Kelly Hall and Margot Middleton. The five new faces around the horseshoe will be Rob Bertrand, Jesse Ritcey, Steve Bucher, Christopher Mitra, and Randy Sunderman.

“Yes I’m one vote, but I’m very much a consensus builder and a collaborator,” O’Reilly said following his victory Oct. 19. “And my way isn’t the highway and it cant be. I didn’t operate that way as councilor and I wont operate that way as a mayor. I look forward to hearing other ideas from around the horseshoe and once we are sworn in we are all duly elected officials, whether you came in first place or eighth place or you are the mayor we are all equals around that horseshoe.”
