Wildfire risk reduction work to go ahead near Lac La Hache

100 MILE HOUSE — The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) said it and the 100 Mile House Natural Resource District will work with the Stswecem’c Xgat’tem First Nation in the creation of a large fire break along the Enterprise Forest Service Road (FSR).

The 120 hectare burn is set to take place between kilometre 11 and 45 of Enterprise FSR, which is about 22 kilometres south of Chimney Lake and 25 kilometres southwest of Lac La Hache.

BCWS officials said work is expected to get underway as early as mid-November and continue until March 31, 2027.

Those in the area will be able to hear chainsaws as crews selectively remove dead overstory trees, understory trees that contribute to ladder fuels and lower branches on retained trees.
