TK’EMLÚPS TE SECWÉPEMC — Some businesses and community buildings in Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc (TteS) will be without power overnight for a few days next week to accommodate electrical work.

The Tim Hortons, car wash, RCMP detachment, All Nations Trust, Powwow Trail Petro Canada gas station and Little Fawn Nursery will be without power from 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday (Nov. 3) to 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 4).

The following evening, the Modular Offices, Moccasin Square Garden, TECH Building, Admin Building and Powwow Grounds will be without power from 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday to 6:00 a.m. on Thursday (Nov. 5).

TteS said the outages will allow for crews to conduct testing, inspections and maintenance to the site’s main electrical transformers.

“This work is critical to ensuring the ongoing safety, rehabilitation, and performance of the electrical distribution system,” said TteS.

“Power may be restored earlier or later than scheduled. Circuits must be treated as energized until TteS confirms restoration.”

Tenants and occupants of the impacted buildings are asked to shut down any sensitive equipment and electronics before 9:45 p.m. on the outage date, confirm backup power and other critical systems are working, keep refrigerators and freezers closed, keep electrical panel closed and do not attempt to reset any electrical systems, and avoid using elevators during the outage unless emergency procedures and backup power is available.

Businesses are also asked to inform all after-hours staff, contractors and security contacts are aware of the outage.

After power is restored, those in the impacted area are asked to check sensitive equipment and building systems. Any issues with electrical, HVAC, security or equipment can be reported to TteS’ Project Coordinator.

“We appreciate your coordination and understanding as we perform this essential maintenance to maintain the reliability of the TteS electrical infrastructure,” said TteS.
