Prime Video renewed its Stephen King adaptation Carrie for a second season, which will go beyond the events of the original 1974 novel. Showrunner Mike Flanagan said the story was always meant to extend past the prom. “I’m incredibly grateful for Stephen’s trust in exploring what comes next,” he said. King added the new season is “bound to be thrilling.” Story URL

Tom Hanks is heading back to Broadway in 2027, starring in This World of Tomorrow — a play he co-wrote with James Glossman. Hanks and Tony winner Kelli O’Hara reprise their Off-Broadway roles. The time-travel love story, based on Hanks’ book Uncommon Type, is directed by Kenny Leon at a Shubert Theater. Dates and venue are still to be announced. Story URL

CBS Sports has named JJ Watt lead analyst for NFL on CBS under a new multi-year deal. Watt will continue alongside Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson, including Super Bowl LXII. He replaces Tony Romo, who parted ways with CBS after a July DUI arrest. CBS Chairman David Berson called Watt “insightful, entertaining, passionate, and the ultimate teammate.” Story URL

Ron Duguay, former NHL star and boyfriend of Sarah Palin, has died following a colon cancer battle. He was 69. Palin, 62, shared the news on Instagram saying, “It’s with a shattered heart, but also deep peace knowing Ron is with Jesus now.” Duguay played 12 NHL seasons, notably with the New York Rangers and Detroit Red Wings. He was diagnosed in 2024. Story URL

Judi Dench, 91, says age-related macular degeneration has forced her to stop performing. “I can’t be on stage. I can’t do a play anymore. I can’t do a film anymore. I can’t read anymore,” she told BBC Radio 4 this week. Diagnosed in 2012, the condition also makes recognizing faces difficult. Dench won her Academy Award for Shakespeare in Love in 1999. Story URL

Prince William has no intention of reconciling with his brother Prince Harry, sources close to the heir told the Mirror. William remains deeply hurt over the “many things” Harry said about the family. Harry, who recently moved back to the UK, told GQ he wants to “work out” the rift, saying: “Some people don’t want it to work out. I want it to work out.” Story URL

Charli XCX has joined Martin Scorsese’s upcoming Gothic psychological horror film What Happens at Night. The pop star has a cameo alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Mads Mikkelsen, Patricia Clarkson, and Jared Harris. The film follows an American couple adopting a baby in a small European town. No release date has been set. Story URL

Thomas Markle Sr., the father of Meghan Markle, is under investigation after his son Thomas Jr. allegedly discovered “hundreds, if not thousands” of child sexual abuse images in his Philippines home. Thomas Jr. apparently reported the findings to the FBI and Philippine authorities after finding videos and images on phones and hard drives. Story URL
