NBC Developing New ‘Coach’ Series With Ty Burrell Of ‘Modern Family’

NBC is developing a reboot of the classic sitcom Coach, with Modern Family star Ty Burrell attached as executive producer and potential lead. Writers Matthew Libman and Daniel Libman, known for Happy Endings, are on board as executive producers. The logline describes “a legendary coach returning home to Minnesota to rebuild his alma mater’s basketball program and reconnect with his community.” The original Coach aired on ABC from 1989 to 1997, starring Craig T. Nelson as college football coach Hayden Fox. Burrell, a two-time Emmy winner for playing Phil Dunphy on Modern Family, has not yet been confirmed as the series lead. No pilot order has been announced.
