Incoming SD73 board pledges to step up calls for better schools, funding – regardless of next government
KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops-Thompson School District (SD73) board is keeping a close watch on this Saturday’s (Oct. 24) provincial election, as it – like most British Columbians – waits to see who will form the next government.
The newly elected, but largely unchanged, board is getting up to speed following last Saturday’s municipal election, and trustees are waiting to see exactly who they’ll be advocating to in Victoria, once voters have elected a new provincial government.
“I’d be remiss to say that people aren’t paying attention to the platforms and the kinds of things that are being talked about by the parties who are running,” Heather Grieve, who has been SD73 board chair since 2021, said.
“Another thing about boards of education is provincially, we’re non-partisan, and we’re non-partisan locally, as well. We have to work with whichever party is leading the province.”
