KAMLOOPS — A pair of Canadian artists will be board the CPKC Holiday Train when it makes its annual Kamloops stop this December.

The Sam Roberts Band and Owen Riegling will serenade the crowd gathered in the Sandman Centre back parking lot starting around 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18. The train is expected to depart Kamloops about 30 minutes later to continue its journey west.

The Sam Roberts Band was previously on board the CPKC – then the CP – Holiday Train in Kamloops back in 2018.

On Dec. 18, the CPKC Holiday Train will also make stops in Chase at 2:45 p.m., Savona at 7:05 p.m., and Ashcroft at 8:45 p.m. It will be in Revelstoke on Dec. 16, in the Salmon Arm-area on Dec. 17 and in Lytton on Dec. 19.

Last year’s edition drew a large crowd as thousands of people braved inclement weather to catch a glimpse of the Barenaked Ladies, and they came bearing gifts – nearly $40,000 and about 5,000 pounds of food for the Kamloops Food Bank.

Since 1999, CPKC says the holiday train has collected more than $28.3 million and over 5.6 million pounds of food for community food banks across Canada and the United States.

“Our railroaders take great pride in bringing the Holiday Train through hundreds of communities across our network to support people facing food insecurity,” said CPKC President and CEO Keith Creel.

“Through the generosity of the thousands of families and fans who come out to see the Holiday Train and support local food banks, whether for the first time or as part of a long-running holiday tradition, we can spread the joy of the season and support the giving spirit of the holidays.”
