Brocklehurst pub closed Tuesday after attempted ATM theft
KAMLOOPS — (UPDATE 12:40 p.m.) A popular Brocklehurst pub will be closed Tuesday (Oct. 6) to repair damage caused after an attempted ATM theft overnight.
Kamloops RCMP say they were tracking two suspects in a stolen vehicle that was spotted in the Barnhartvale area after the break-in at Pogue Mahone Irish Alehouse around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. Pictures from the scene show a damaged door with glass strewn on the floor in the entrance foyer.
In a statement, police say a maroon coloured, Ford F-350 rammed through the front door, and while two suspects attempted to tie a tow rope around the ATM their luck ran out.
“As part of the investigation, Tk’emlúps Rural frontline police spotted the suspect vehicle travelling east on East Trans Canada Highway, and headed towards Barnhartvale,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Dana Napier said, noting the truck suffered damage to its rear end.
