KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers split their home-and-home weekend with the Kelowna Rockets, after they dropped a 4-3 decision in overtime Saturday (Oct. 3) at the Sandman Centre.

Drew Larioza opened the scoring for the Rockets 3:09 into the first period, but the Blazers responded seven minutes later when Teagen Bouchard scored his first ever WHL goal.

About two minutes later, Brady Ondrus made it two goals in two nights when he struck on the power play to make it 2-1 Blazers after one period.

Kelowna evened the score just 42 seconds into the second period when Eli Barrett struck on the power play. Ten minutes later, Madden Daneault put the Rockets up 3-2.

At the 13:21 mark of the second frame, a Cooper Moore shot found the back of the net to even things up a 3-3.

After a scoreless third period, the Rockets nabbed the extra point after Jacob Henderson beat Logan Edmonstone just 34 seconds into overtime.

Edmonstone stopped 45 of 49 shots in a losing effort while Kelowna’s Harrison Boettiger made 22 saves on 25 shots.

The Blazers will be back in action this Wednesday (Oct. 7) when they face off against the Brandon Wheat Kings. Puck drop at the Sandman Centre is set for 7:00 p.m.
