WATCH: Hundreds rally to ‘reclaim the land’ after masked Sunday gathering on Tkemlúps
TK’EMLUPS TE SECWÉPEMC — Hundreds of Indigenous people and allies stood shoulder to shoulder at the Chief Louis Crossing shopping complex Tuesday (Sept. 29) afternoon to relay another message of unity, following Sunday’s appearance of several masked individuals allegedly associated with a white nationalist group on Tkemlúps te Secwépemc lands.
Billed as a flash mob and held one day after a healing circle took place at the Tkemlúps Powwow Arbour, the event was meant as a way to “cleanse the land” and reclaim the space ahead of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Wednesday (Sept. 30).
