Hannah Einbinder, Susan Sarandon Detained At Netanyahu U.N. Protest

Hannah Einbinder and Susan Sarandon were detained by police on September 24th in New York City while protesting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at the U.N. General Assembly. Images of both actors in handcuffs circulated widely on social media. It remains unconfirmed whether they were arrested or simply detained. Netanyahu’s speech addressed delegates who walked out, criticizing New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and internet streamer Hasan Piker. Both actors have been vocal Palestinian advocates. Einbinder previously stated, “I am under no impression that my one small career could ever measure up in comparison to even one human life.” Sarandon added her career has suffered, noting agencies have advised against hiring her.
