Mobile health care and outreach services clinic opening in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — A new mobile clinic aims to expand access to health care and outreach services in Kamloops.
The City of Kamloops says it led the funding acquisition and vehicle procurement for the mobile health care outreach van while Interior Health will provide staff and services. In a joint news release issued Tuesday (Sept. 23), the city says the van was fully funded through the federal Emergency Treatment Fund.
The city says the van will support residents who may face challenges accessing traditional health care, including people experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity, older adults, people with accessibility or mobility needs and residents connected with Interior Health’s outreach service.
“This initiative is about much more than a vehicle,” Ashley Ekelund, the city’s social and community development supervisor, says. “It is about improving access to health care and ensuring residents can receive support in a safe, accessible and dignified environment.”
