BIABC applauds halt to PST expansion
KAMLOOPS — The Business Improvement Areas of British Columbia (BIABC) is hailing the B.C. government’s decision to halt the planned Provincial Sales Tax (PST) expansion.
The BIABC said they welcome the decision, saying it is the right move for businesses, workers and communities across the province.
The BIABC said it was among a growing number of business organizations and leaders warning the tax would add costs to services that businesses rely upon at an inopportune time.
“There will obviously be speculation about the timing of this decision and whether the prospect of an election played a role,” said Jeremy Heighton, BIABC President and Kamloops business advocate.
