Unmuted event an opportunity to learn about spelling-to-communicate methods
KAMLOOPS — Luke Verhoeff, Damon Kirsebom and Cash Dennis are non-speaking autistic individuals who communicate through a letterboard and with help from communication regulation practitioners.
They took part in a Spellingway Communication Society (SCS) event – Unmuted – on Thursday (Sept. 17) at Sandman Centre, taking questions from the crowd and demonstrating spelling-to-communicate methods.
“How can we move this forward?” said Luke’s mom, Sandra Verhoeff, who handles marketing and communications for SCS.
