Starfish Backpack drive-thru goes Friday in support of 300-plus Kamloops families

KAMLOOPS — The annual drive-thru breakfast in support of the Starfish Backpack Program will take place Friday (Sept. 18) morning at the Cascades Casino. 

The event will run from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., with the proceeds helping fund this year’s Starfish program which sees elementary aged students receive a backpack filled with food on Fridays after school.

“[It’s] super easy to support and it’s such a fun event,” said food bank president and CEO Bernadette Siracky. “We have businesses that are giving out treats all the way along. Petland is there, Freshco, Tumbleweed Toys. We ask people to come with their kids, with their dogs – a lot of fun. And then at the end, you get these incredible wraps that Robert and his team from Cascades make, so good. Come and support our efforts with Starfish. This year alone, we are feeding 330 elementary school kids every single Friday.”
