Downed power pole has Kamloops Airport using backup generator

KAMLOOPS — A downed BC Hydro pole has knocked out power for 789 customers in Kamloops’ Brocklehurst and Tranquille areas, including the airport.

BC Hydro said the power has been off in the area north of Rodeo Drive since 1:16 p.m. on Thursday (Sept. 17).

The utility company said a crew is on-site, but there is no estimate as to when power is expected to be restored.

Kamloops Airport was caught in the outage area, but officials said in a social media post that the facility is still operating critical systems on backup power.
