Merritt-area First Nations assembly acquires 853-acre Aspen Grove ranch

ASPEN GROVE, B.C. — The Citxw Nlaka’pamux Assembly (CNA) says it has purchased an 853-acre ranch near Aspen Grove, saying it will restore stewardship for its people and connection to their traditional land.

The Windy Hills property is described as ranchland “surrounded by rolling hills, forests, grasslands, waterways and lakes.”

“Windy Hills offers significant potential for cultural revitalization, environmental stewardship, education, recreation and community gathering, while preserving opportunities to care for and protect the land for future generations,” says the CNA in a news release published to social media Wednesday (Sept. 16).

The release does not disclose details of the acquisition, though it says it was made “independently of the [Nlaka’pamux Legacy] Trust.”
