Kamloops Christmas Market alerting prospective vendors about scam emails
KAMLOOPS — Organizers of the Kamloops Christmas Market are sounding the alarm about an email scam that has been making the rounds in recent weeks, and they’re urging potential vendors to be careful.
The Kamloops Sports Council says it is aware of “pretty convincing” emails inviting local business owners to apply to be a vendor at this year’s Christmas Market – which will run Nov. 27 to Dec. 6. Those who apply through that fraudulent email are then asked to send money to hold their spot.
“I don’t know who they are and if they’re local or from somewhere else. This is new to us but it’s not new to festivals and markets all across the country and the world,” Kamloops Sports Council executive director Duncan Olthuis said.
