One sent to hospital, vehicle damaged in separate mobile home fires in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) crews were kept busy overnight due to a pair of mobile home fires on opposite ends of the city.
One person inside a building at the Woodland Mobile Home Park on Albert Street near McArthur Island was sent to hospital due to smoke inhalation. The call came in at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 13) and KFR Platoon Chief Will Harlock says 14 firefighters were on scene to quickly knock the fire down.
Harlock says the fire was contained in the living room, but crews remained on scene for about an hour-and-a-half to ensure it didn’t spread. The unit suffered smoke damage but remains standing.
“Obviously, not livable because any of those trailers, they’re so small and any kind of smoke damage that goes through them is going to take time for them to assess it to see if it’s livable again or if it’s going to have to be a rebuild,” Harlock told CFJC Today.
