Cops for Kids scheduled for stop in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — The 2026 edition of the Cops for Kids Ride will be rolling into Kamloops later this week.

The 10-day, 1,000-kilometre journey through the Okanagan, Kootenays, Shuswap and South Thompson region began Friday (Sept. 11) in Kelowna.

The officers and civilian riders will depart Salmon Arm on Friday, Sept. 18, make a stop in Chase and arrive at the Kamloops RCMP detachment on Battle Street at around 4:00 p.m. that afternoon.

Kamloops RCMP Cst. Blake De La Perrelle is returning for his second Cops for Kids Ride in 2026.

“This ride is for the kids who need us in our community,” De La Perrelle states in a news release issued Monday (Sept. 14). “We get on the bike and log the miles, knowing what we’re doing is going to potentially change the life of a child. Arriving into Kamloops and having our community welcome us is the highlight of the journey for me. I hope people will come out, meet the team and help us celebrate what this ride is really about.”

According to Cops for Kids, funds raised during the lengthy bike journey provide direct financial assistance to families facing unexpected and overwhelming challenges related to a child’s medical, physical or traumatic crisis. The charitable group made up of RCMP officers and South East District personnel has raised more than $6.8 million since 2001.
