Salmon Arm RCMP say possible scam taking place under guise of fundraiser

SALMON ARM, B.C. — RCMP are warning residents of a possible scam taking place under the guise of a fundraiser in the Shuswap. 

While Salmon Arm RCMP say they are unaware of the validity of the fundraiser or any organization it may be trying to support, they urge residents to be cautious when purchasing anything where the only form of payment accepted is e-Transfer. 

Specifics of the possible scam were not provided in a news release issued Thursday (Sept. 10). 

However, RCMP encourages residents to research charities, via the Canada Revenue Agency and OrgBook BC, to ensure they are legitimate and registered.
