KAMLOOPS — Saturday (Sept. 5) was a spectacular return to Kamloops for Colton Meikle.

The 21-year-old wide receiver and BC Lions prospect scored four touchdowns and put up 80 yards on only four receptions as his Okanagan Sun blew out the Kamloops Broncos at Hillside Stadium 72-0.

Quarterback Liam Connolly, Meikle’s fellow Westsyde Secondary alumnus, threw for 267 yards and six touchdowns while completing 15 of 19 pass attempts.

Meikle joined the Okanagan Sun ahead of the 2026 season after spending four seasons with the Broncos.

Meantime, the loss was another struggle for a rebuilding Broncos team that suffered its third shutout loss of the season. The Broncos put up 81 passing yards and seven rushing yards. Running back Owen Stockbruegger led Kamloops in yards with a 51-yard reception.

Defensively, the Broncos recorded four sacks.

The Broncos fall to 0-7 on the 2026 BC Football Conference season. They remain at the bottom of the league standings.

The Broncos are on a BYE week. They have another chance to get their first win of the season when they welcome the Valley Huskers of Chilliwack to Hillside Stadium Saturday, Sept. 19, at 6:00 p.m.
